The France's overseas territories are rich in creativity, diversity, and varied aesthetic wealth. Due to their unique positioning, histories, as well as the diverse perspectives they bring, artists and creations from the overseas territories can play a key role in reshaping postcolonial relationships. However, cultural professionals from these territories currently lack equal access to the training, production, and dissemination resources and networks available to most artists from other France's territories.
As a signatory of the Visibility Pact for Overseas Artists initiated by the French Ministry of Overseas Territories and the French Ministry of Culture, and receiving direct financial support from the French Ministry of Overseas Territories for this purpose, Onda has intensified its actions to support overseas artists.
Onda's initiatives include:
- Supporting venues in the France's overseas territories to host performances from metropolitan France, other French overseas territories, or international productions;
- Giving priority support to the tours of overseas artistic teams in metropolitan France;
- Regularly organizing itinerant meetings in each of the France's overseas territories and visibility events for overseas artists in metropolitan France;
- Ensuring the presence of France's overseas artists and cultural operators in various meetings Onda organizes or helps facilitate;
- Supporting collaborations between venues in metropolitan France and the France's overseas territories to promote the "expanded dissemination" of France's overseas artists. This includes extended presence and hosting initiatives that combine performance dissemination with mediation activities and, at times, creation.
